The Show was open from Friday April 19th to Sunday April 21st. The booth featured three all-out racing cars: the former Speedvision World Challenge Corvette C5 of Tom Johnston Racing, the beautifully prepared and very fast Vintage Formula Ford Tiga of Alan McColl and a newcomer on the local scene, the 1965 Fournier-Marcadier Barquette 1.6 litre sports racer of Ian Wood. (These photos were taken late at night before the setup was completed.) Thank you to the many show-goers who dropped by the booth and said hello; we hope to see you again next year. And a very big 'Thank You' from the VRCBC to the many META folks who showed up (in race day uniform) to help us promote road racing at the Mission Raceway Park Road Course. The next big event is of course, our BC Historic Motor Races (here) on the May 25th - 26th weekend.

The SCCBC / CACC 'A Lap Ahead' weekend opened the race season at Mission Raceway Park Road Course on April 13-14. It was a little chilly and damp on the Saturday but just as ordered by the VRCBC's Vintage racers, the weather was beautiful on Sunday. The full weekend results are now available on the SCCBC web site (here) and will also be posted on this web site.

Check out the photos below. Thanks to Paul Bonner for the on-track shots.

It is the Sports Car Club of BC's 'A Lap Ahead' weekend on April 13-14 at the Mission Raceway Park Road Course. Our VRCBC Vintage racers will be out on the Sunday, April 14. (There is also a SCCBC Practice Day on Friday, April 12.) You can check out some photos of the early bird Vintage registrants below. Everybody will be warming up for the big British Columbia Historic Motor Races (better known as the BCHMR) weekend on May 25-26, also at Mission. Complete information on the 'A Lap Ahead' weekend is available on the SCCBC web site (here).  You can go directly to the MotorsportReg.com sites:

See you at the track!

IMG_3056VRCBC members and guests gathered at TBC Indoor Kart Racing in Richmond on Tuesday, March 12th for the Third Annual VRCBC One Hour Enduro. There was some great racing throughout, with just enough ”bump drafting” to entertain the 'hundreds of screaming' (well, maybe not) fans.

After a full hour of racing, Team Tiger (Doug Yip, Trevor Yip and Steve Hodge) had completed 106 laps, taking first place by 2 laps from Big Bull Racing (Keith Robinson, Paul Higgins and Ian Wood). The battle for third place was really intense with Team CPR - not the Railroad (Gunter Pichler, Greg Campbell and Phil Roney) only beating Team Turn Worker (Roger Salmonon, Thomas Leisner and Angus Glass) by 16 seconds. They in turn only held onto fourth place by one (!) second from Team Zoom Zoom (Al Harvey, Brian Harvey and Rod Davison). The complete results are here.

And special congratulations to the drivers with the two fastest laps; Trevor Yip (at 30.330 seconds) and Roger Salomon (at 30.781 seconds). Trevor is a kart racer who switched to Formula Vee last season. Roger began as an Assistant Starter at Westwood in 1969 and has been contributing his time and expertise as a race official ever since. It is very fitting that he showed all of the 'regular racers' how to turn a fast lap!

Apologies for the poor quality of the photos below; the photographer was overcome with excitement!
